R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Carter Edward Moxley has ably served his fellow |
|
Texans as deputy chief of staff in the office of State |
|
Representative Mike Schofield during the 89th Legislature; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since joining Representative Schofield's staff, |
|
Mr. Moxley has handled a wide variety of challenging tasks, and his |
|
contributions to carrying forth the member's legislative agenda |
|
have helped to address issues impacting constituents in Harris |
|
County; in addition to his other responsibilities, he has assisted |
|
the office of State Representative Joanne Shofner; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moxley previously worked for State Senator |
|
Kevin Sparks, first as a staff assistant and later as director of |
|
operations during the 88th Legislature and interim; in 2023, he had |
|
the honor of working for Speaker Kevin McCarthy of the U.S. House of |
|
Representatives; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Bakersfield, California, to Brook Moxley and |
|
Lisa Edward, Carter Moxley grew up in Winters, California, where |
|
his family raised horses, and he eventually moved to Brock, Texas, |
|
with his father and stepmother, Kirsten Moxley; he served as |
|
student body president at Brock High School and graduated during |
|
the COVID-19 pandemic; he went on to earn two undergraduate degrees |
|
with honors from The University of Texas at Austin in 2024; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moxley has worked for a number of other elected |
|
leaders in Texas, including State Representative Phil King and U.S. |
|
Senator John Cornyn; he was also a member of the seventh class of |
|
the Clements Legislative Study Program at the Texas Conservative |
|
Coalition Research Institute, and he participated in the inaugural |
|
Liberty & Learning Fellows program at the Fund for American Studies |
|
in Washington, D.C.; in addition, he served as an intern at the |
|
Texas Public Policy Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moxley was a member of the first Society of |
|
Fellows program at UT Austin's Civitas Institute, and while |
|
completing his undergraduate studies, he became a member of the |
|
Young Conservatives of Texas and the vast alumni network of |
|
Dr. Alan Sager; he has further distinguished himself as a member of |
|
the Texas Exes and the Austin Institute's Undergraduate Fellows as |
|
well as the Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Lambda Pi Eta honor |
|
societies; among his many accomplishments, he received the Ted |
|
Strauss Civic Internship Award and a UT Austin government |
|
scholarship; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Moxley continues his exemplary record of public |
|
service in honor of his grandparents, Dr. John Moxley III, |
|
Mrs. Priscilla Moxley, Mr. Barry Edward, and Mrs. Shirley Edward; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed public employee has performed his |
|
duties as deputy chief of staff with skill, dedication, and a deep |
|
understanding of the legislative process, and he is indeed |
|
deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Carter Edward Moxley for his service as |
|
deputy chief of staff in the office of State Representative Mike |
|
Schofield and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Moxley as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
