R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Nia Nickens has distinguished herself in her |
|
|
responsibilities as a PowerHouse Texas energy policy fellow in the |
|
|
office of State Representative Rafael Anchía during the 89th |
|
|
Legislative Session; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Nickens has provided |
|
|
vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks, |
|
|
including collaborating with stakeholders, drafting bill layouts |
|
|
and policy memos, supporting constituent outreach, and attending |
|
|
legislative meetings and briefings; her work has focused on such |
|
|
critical issues as energy, the environment and climate, |
|
|
transportation, and water; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Nickens holds a bachelor's degree in |
|
|
environmental studies with a minor in ecology and conservation |
|
|
biology as well as a master's degree in energy from Texas A&M |
|
|
University; passionate about reducing energy burdens in low-income |
|
|
communities while advancing social equity, she currently serves as |
|
|
a climate corps fellow for the Environmental Defense Fund, and her |
|
|
previous experience includes working as a rising solar fellow for |
|
|
Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy, as a student |
|
|
intern at the Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental |
|
|
Justice, and as an onboarding associate at Relentless; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nia Nickens has performed her duties as a PowerHouse |
|
|
Texas energy policy fellow with skill and dedication, and she is |
|
|
indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Nia Nickens for her service as a |
|
|
PowerHouse Texas energy policy fellow in the office of State |
|
|
Representative Rafael Anchía and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Nickens as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
