R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Gary Calfee is retiring as an attorney in 2025 after |
|
a notable career that has made him a well-known figure in the Texas |
|
Capitol community; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Mr. Calfee is the second of four |
|
children born to Rowena and Richard W. Calfee, and he graduated from |
|
Richfield High School in 1968; he went on to earn a degree in |
|
government from The University of Texas at Austin, and while |
|
completing his studies, he began working at the State Capitol; he |
|
later received a law degree from the UT School of Law; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his work as an attorney and legislative advocate, |
|
Mr. Calfee has gained a reputation for his dedication, integrity, |
|
and self-reliance; he is also renowned in state government circles |
|
for his excellent cooking skills, with his pozole, beef tenderloin, |
|
and other specialties earning many loyal fans; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bearing the soul of a cowboy, Mr. Calfee looks |
|
forward to spending his retirement at his ranch in New Mexico; in |
|
all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, |
|
Laura; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of four decades, Gary Calfee has |
|
exemplified the values and principles of a true Texan in his work, |
|
and he will be missed by the many friends he has made at the State |
|
Capitol; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Gary Calfee on his retirement and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Calfee as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
