R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Ganado High School softball team capped a
  storybook year by winning the 2025 University Interscholastic
  League 2A Division 1 state championship; and
         WHEREAS, The Maidens began their journey to the title by
  capturing the District 29-2A title; the team then launched a
  dominant playoff run, compiling a 10-0 record while defeating
  Refugio, Three Rivers, Thorndale, Flatonia, and Corrigan-Camden
  High Schools, with seven of the victories coming by seven runs or
  more; and
         WHEREAS, On May 29, Ganado battled Riesel High School at
  McCombs Field in Austin in a thrilling showdown for the state crown;
  trailing by a run going into the top of the seventh inning, the
  Maidens demonstrated great poise and determination, scoring two
  runs on a single to center field and ultimately triumphing by the
  final score of 5-4; the Ganado players collected the first softball
  state championship in school history and ended the year with an
  outstanding record of 33 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie; and
         WHEREAS, The Maidens were paced by championship game Most
  Valuable Player Kyla Stancik, who was joined on the All-Tournament
  team by Paisley Hajovsky, Faith Palacios, Raelynn Pena, Jordyn
  Bundick, and Madi Weempe; Ganado also received valuable
  contributions throughout the season from the other members of the
  roster: Laci Holt, Zoey Ybarra, Avery Torres, Rhylee Green, Hallie
  Bures, Saylor Bures, Gwen Reid, Kalyn Benavides, and Isabel
  Tristan; these dedicated student-athletes were guided by head coach
  James Harp and assistant coaches Malina Andel and Matt Ervin; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the Ganado Maidens will treasure
  their memories of this accomplishment for the rest of their lives;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Ganado High School softball
  team on winning the 2025 UIL 2A Division 1 state championship and
  extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
