R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The softball team of Calallen High School in Corpus
  Christi furthered its proud tradition of success by winning the
  2025 University Interscholastic League 4A Division 1 state
  championship; and
         WHEREAS, The Wildcats' journey to the crown began with a
  stellar performance in the regular season; they continued to excel
  in the playoffs, dispatching Pharr Valley View, Needville, Comal
  Davenport, and Fredericksburg High Schools to reach the semifinals;
  there, Calallen rallied against rival Liberty High, winning a
  pivotal Game 3 for a berth in the state final; and
         WHEREAS, On May 30, the Wildcats battled Andrews High School
  for the championship at McCombs Field in Austin; Calallen jumped
  out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the second inning, and a
  grand slam in the sixth frame provided a commanding 9-0 advantage;
  Jordyn Thibodeaux dominated on the mound for the Wildcats, striking
  out nine batters and allowing just one hit across five innings;
  triumphing by the final score of 9-2, the Wildcats hoisted the title
  trophy for the third consecutive year, becoming the state's first
  4A softball team to accomplish that feat and ending with an
  exceptional record of 34-6; and
         WHEREAS, The Wildcats were paced by championship game Most
  Valuable Player Braelyn Bailey, who was joined on the
  All-Tournament Team by Ms. Thibodeaux, Audryna Almaraz, Kaylie
  Lopez, Brookelynn Meador, Kristin Leal, and Kayden Trevino;
  Calallen also received valuable contributions throughout the
  season from the other members of the roster: Candace Esquivel,
  Kylie Butcher, Khloe Valdez, Ava Garcia, Kelly Flores, Bianca
  Gonzales, Lizzy Smith, Brianna Beltran, Kailyn Rodriguez, Hailey
  Acosta, Andrea Flores, Aubree Kimbrell, and Kiana Vargas; these
  dedicated student-athletes were ably guided by head coach Teresa
  Flores Lentz, assistant coaches Vianca Pesina, Lamar Lopez, Mark
  Razzo, and Max Cave, and student coach Caragan Raska; and
         WHEREAS, By claiming three state championships in a row, the
  Calallen Wildcats have burnished their reputation as a softball
  powerhouse, and all those associated with the team may reflect with
  pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Calallen High School softball
  team on winning the 2025 UIL 4A Division 1 state championship and
  extend to all those associated with the squad sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Wildcats as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
