R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Donna Gordon Kaspar has demonstrated a longstanding |
|
|
commitment to her fellow citizens over the course of her notable |
|
|
legal career; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Donald and Judy Gordon, the former |
|
|
Donna Gordon was raised in Crockett, where she graduated as the |
|
|
salutatorian of Crockett High School in 1985; she went on to earn a |
|
|
degree in business management from Texas A&M University in 1989 and |
|
|
a law degree from Baylor Law School in 1992; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Kaspar began her career as an assistant district |
|
|
attorney in the Nacogdoches County District Attorney's Office; in |
|
|
1995, she returned to Crockett with the intention of one day running |
|
|
for Houston County district attorney, a position previously held by |
|
|
her father, but she was soon appointed to the post of county |
|
|
attorney; she successfully ran for district attorney in 2008, and |
|
|
during her 16 years in office, she tried all types of felony cases; |
|
|
though she retired at the end of 2024, she recently took on a |
|
|
challenging new role with her appointment as the Crockett city |
|
|
attorney in March 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A widely respected figure in the community, |
|
|
Ms. Kaspar received the Teardrop Award from Kalin's Center for her |
|
|
work to benefit children who have suffered from abuse; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through her dedication, integrity, and expertise, |
|
|
Donna Gordon Kaspar has distinguished herself as an attorney and |
|
|
public servant, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for her |
|
|
exemplary work; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Donna Gordon Kaspar for her professional |
|
|
accomplishments and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Kaspar as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
