A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the costs associated with the assessment and |
|
|
destruction of certain deer. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 43.955(a), Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The department [applicable permit holder] shall pay all |
|
|
costs associated with: |
|
|
(1) an epidemiological assessment conducted under |
|
|
this subchapter to the animal health commission; and |
|
|
(2) [except as provided by Subsection (b),] the |
|
|
destruction of deer under this subchapter, including any costs |
|
|
associated with the disposal of the deer [to the department]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Sections 43.955(b) and (c), Parks and Wildlife |
|
|
Code, are repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to the payment of costs arising from an epidemiological assessment |
|
|
conducted, or the destruction of deer commenced, on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
