A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to postmortem testing of deer for chronic wasting disease. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 12, Parks and Wildlife |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 12.029 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 12.029. POSTMORTEM TESTING OF DEER FOR CHRONIC WASTING |
|
|
DISEASE. (a) Notwithstanding any other law, postmortem testing of |
|
|
deer for chronic wasting disease under this code or a rule adopted |
|
|
under this code must be conducted by the Texas A&M Veterinary |
|
|
Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. |
|
|
(b) The results of a test described by Subsection (a) must |
|
|
be interpreted by at least two employees of the Texas A&M Veterinary |
|
|
Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
