A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to an annual study on the economic, environmental, and
  financial impact of illegal immigration in this state.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Chapter 752, Government Code, is amended by
  adding Subchapter D to read as follows:
  SUBCHAPTER D.  STUDY ON IMPACT OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
         Sec. 752.101.  ANNUAL IMMIGRATION IMPACT STUDY. (a)  The
  office of the governor shall conduct an annual study on the
  economic, environmental, and financial impact of illegal
  immigration in this state.
         (b)  The office of the governor may collaborate or contract
  with a state or federal agency, a political subdivision, an
  institution of higher education, or a nonprofit organization or
  other private entity to assist in conducting the study required by
  this section.
         (c)  On request by the criminal justice division of the
  office of the governor, the Office of Court Administration of the
  Texas Judicial System shall coordinate with and provide information
  to the division.
         Sec. 752.102.  BIENNIAL REPORT.  Not later than December 1 of
  each even-numbered year, the office of the governor shall prepare
  and submit to the lieutenant governor and legislature a report
  containing the results of each study conducted in the preceding two
  years under this subchapter.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
