A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an annual study on the economic, environmental, and |
|
financial impact of illegal immigration in this state. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 752, Government Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subchapter D to read as follows: |
|
SUBCHAPTER D. STUDY ON IMPACT OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION |
|
Sec. 752.101. ANNUAL IMMIGRATION IMPACT STUDY. (a) The |
|
office of the governor shall conduct an annual study on the |
|
economic, environmental, and financial impact of illegal |
|
immigration in this state. |
|
(b) The office of the governor may collaborate or contract |
|
with a state or federal agency, a political subdivision, an |
|
institution of higher education, or a nonprofit organization or |
|
other private entity to assist in conducting the study required by |
|
this section. |
|
Sec. 752.102. BIENNIAL REPORT. Not later than December 1 of |
|
each even-numbered year, the office of the governor shall prepare |
|
and submit to the lieutenant governor and legislature a report |
|
containing the results of each study conducted in the preceding two |
|
years under this subchapter. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
