A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the eligibility of a person employed by a school |
|
district as a teacher to serve on the appraisal review board of an |
|
appraisal district; creating a criminal offense. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 6.411, Tax Code, is amended by adding |
|
Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
(b-1) A member of the board of trustees of an independent |
|
school district or an employee of the district commits an offense if |
|
the member or employee communicates with a member of the appraisal |
|
review board who is employed by the school district as a teacher |
|
with the intent to influence a decision by the member in the |
|
member's capacity as a member of the appraisal review board. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 6.412(c), Tax Code, is amended to read as |
|
follows: |
|
(c) Except as otherwise provided by this subsection, a [A] |
|
person is ineligible to serve on the appraisal review board if the |
|
person is a member of the board of directors, [an] officer, or |
|
employee of the appraisal district, an employee of the comptroller, |
|
or a member of the governing body, officer, or employee of a taxing |
|
unit. A person employed by a school district as a teacher may serve |
|
on the appraisal review board. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
