A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to creating a school uniform allotment under the |
|
|
Foundation School Program. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 48, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 48.121 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 48.121. SCHOOL UNIFORM ALLOTMENT. (a) Except as |
|
|
provided by Subsection (c), for each student in average daily |
|
|
attendance who attends a school at which school uniforms are |
|
|
required, a school district is entitled to an annual allotment of |
|
|
$100. |
|
|
(b) Money allocated under this section may be used only to |
|
|
provide uniforms to each student who is required to wear a uniform. |
|
|
(c) In any school year in which the amount of money |
|
|
appropriated for purposes of this section is less than the amount of |
|
|
money to which school districts are entitled, the commissioner: |
|
|
(1) may provide an allotment to a district under |
|
|
Subsection (a) only if there is sufficient money to provide the |
|
|
district the full amount to which the district is entitled under |
|
|
this section; and |
|
|
(2) shall prioritize districts that receive funding |
|
|
under Title I, Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 |
|
|
U.S.C. Section 6301 et seq.). |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
