AN ACT
|
|
relating to the withdrawal of the State of Texas from the Interstate |
|
Mining Compact. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. The State of Texas withdraws from the Interstate |
|
Mining Compact under Section 132.002, Natural Resources Code, as |
|
authorized by Article VIII of the compact. As soon as practicable |
|
after the effective date of this Act, the governor shall: |
|
(1) provide written notice of the withdrawal to the |
|
governor of each state that is a party to the compact as provided by |
|
that article; and |
|
(2) publish notice of the withdrawal in the Texas |
|
Register. |
|
SECTION 2. On the first anniversary of the date the governor |
|
publishes notice under Section 1(2) of this Act: |
|
(1) the office of the Interstate Mining Compact |
|
Commissioner for Texas is abolished; |
|
(2) the Texas Mining Council is abolished; and |
|
(3) Chapter 132, Natural Resources Code, is repealed. |
|
SECTION 3. Except as otherwise provided by this Act, this Act |
|
takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the |
|
members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, |
|
Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary |
|
for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
