A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the frequency of county bail bond board meetings.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 1704.055, Occupations Code, is amended
  by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (d) to read as
  follows:
         (b)  Except as provided by Subsections Subsection (c) and
  (d), a board shall meet:
               (1)  at least once a month; and
               (2)  at other times at the call of the presiding
  officer.
         (d)  A board in a county with a population of less than 1.3
  million and containing a municipality with a population of 750,000
  or more shall meet:
               (1)  at least six times each year during the months of
  January, March, May, July, September, and November at the call of
  the presiding officer; and 
               (2)  at other times at the call of the presiding
  officer.
         SECTION 2.  Section 1704.162(h), Occupations Code, is
  amended in read as follows:
         (h)  Notwithstanding the expiration date of a license issued
  under this chapter, if a board to which Section 1704.055(c) or (d)
  applies tables a license holder's application for renewal or
  otherwise does not take action to approve or deny the application,
  the applicant's current license continues in effect until the next
  meeting of the board.
         SECTION 3.  Section 1704.162(h), Occupations Code, as
  amended by this Act, applies only to an application for renewal of a
  license filed with a county bail bond board on or after the
  effective date of this Act. An application filed before that date is
  governed by the law in effect at the time the application was filed,
  and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
         SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect July 1, 2025, if it
  receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each
  house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.
  If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate
  effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
