A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a study by the Texas Education Agency regarding |
|
standardizing building designs for public schools. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. DEFINITION. In this Act, "agency" means the |
|
Texas Education Agency. |
|
SECTION 2. STUDY REGARDING STANDARDIZED BUILDING DESIGNS. |
|
(a) The agency shall conduct a study regarding standardizing |
|
building designs for public schools. |
|
(b) The study conducted under this section must: |
|
(1) determine the feasibility of establishing a set of |
|
10 standardized building designs that a school district must choose |
|
from when building a new campus; and |
|
(2) evaluate the effective cost savings to individual |
|
school districts from providing standardized building designs for |
|
school districts building a new campus. |
|
SECTION 3. REPORT. Not later than September 1, 2026, the |
|
agency shall submit a report to the governor, the lieutenant |
|
governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and the |
|
chair of each standing committee of the legislature with primary |
|
jurisdiction over education that includes the results of the study |
|
conducted under this Act. |
|
SECTION 4. EXPIRATION. This Act expires September 1, 2027. |
|
SECTION 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
|
1, 2025. |
