A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to job interview restrictions for releasees from the Texas |
|
|
Department of Criminal Justice. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 508, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 508.1143 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 508.1143. CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS ON RELEASEE JOB |
|
|
INTERVIEWS PROHIBITED. A parole officer may not: |
|
|
(1) limit the number of job interviews that a releasee |
|
|
may attend per day; or |
|
|
(2) prohibit a releasee from visiting a premises, |
|
|
facility, or location without specific approval for the visit by |
|
|
the parole officer if the visit is for a job interview and the |
|
|
releasee has previously been approved to visit the premises, |
|
|
facility, or location for a related purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
