A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to personal leave for wellness provided for school |
|
|
district employees. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 22.003, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) In addition to all other days of leave provided under |
|
|
this section or by a school district, a school district employee is |
|
|
entitled to not less than two days of leave for compensation per |
|
|
year for wellness. Days of leave taken under this subsection may |
|
|
not be accumulated or deducted from an employee's accumulated |
|
|
personal leave. A school district shall adopt a policy regarding an |
|
|
employee's use of leave under this subsection, including procedures |
|
|
for the processing and documentation of leave taken under this |
|
|
subsection. A school district may not require documentation from an |
|
|
employee for days of leave taken under this subsection. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
