A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to online law enforcement reporting systems maintained or |
|
|
operated by or on behalf of a municipality or county. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 370, Local Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Section 370.010 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 370.010. ONLINE LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTING SYSTEM. A |
|
|
municipality or county that maintains or operates or contracts with |
|
|
a third party to maintain or operate an online law enforcement |
|
|
reporting system to electronically record, store, manage, and |
|
|
analyze law enforcement reports must provide a person who submitted |
|
|
a law enforcement report through the system a reasonable |
|
|
opportunity to cure any defects in the report before issuing a |
|
|
denial. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
