A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the conduct by electronic means of certain uncontested |
|
|
hearings. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 30.012(a), Civil Practice and Remedies |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) With the agreement of the parties, and subject to |
|
|
Subsection (b), a trial judge may order that a hearing of a |
|
|
preliminary matter, an uncontested proceeding in which the court is |
|
|
approving an agreement, or witness testimony at trial may be |
|
|
conducted by electronic means, including satellite transmission, |
|
|
closed-circuit television transmission, teleconferencing, |
|
|
videoconferencing, or any other method of [two-way] electronic |
|
|
communication that is available to the parties, approved by the |
|
|
court, and capable of visually and audibly recording the |
|
|
proceedings. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
