A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the duties of tenured faculty at public institutions of |
|
|
higher education. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 51.942(a)(3), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(3) "Neglect of duty" means continuing or repeated |
|
|
substantial neglect of professional responsibilities, including |
|
|
responsibilities for: |
|
|
(A) engaging in classroom, laboratory, seminar, |
|
|
or clinical instruction; |
|
|
(B) pursuing research through study, |
|
|
investigation, discovery, and creation; and |
|
|
(C) attending to administrative tasks. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
