A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the review and evaluation of advanced placement and |
|
|
international baccalaureate courses offered in public schools in |
|
|
this state. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 28, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 28.0025 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 28.0025. REVIEW OF ADVANCED PLACEMENT AND |
|
|
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE COURSES. (a) Not later than December |
|
|
31, 2026, the State Board of Education shall: |
|
|
(1) review and evaluate each advanced placement and |
|
|
international baccalaureate course offered by a school district or |
|
|
open-enrollment charter school, including examination, |
|
|
instructional, and training materials for the course, for |
|
|
compliance with state law, including Section 28.0022; and |
|
|
(2) based upon the review described by Subdivision |
|
|
(1), determine whether school districts and open-enrollment |
|
|
charter schools may continue to offer each course. |
|
|
(b) This section expires September 1, 2027. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
