A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to performance-based funding goals for general academic |
|
|
teaching institutions. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 61.059, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding a subsection (t) to read as follows: |
|
|
(t) In addition to other funding authorized by this section, |
|
|
beginning in the 2026-27 biennium, the legislature shall |
|
|
appropriate funding to general academic teaching institutions |
|
|
using an allocation methodology that includes outcome measures to |
|
|
incentivize students' timely graduation. The total amount of |
|
|
performance-based funding authorized by this subsection shall |
|
|
constitute not less than 15 percent of the sum of the total amount |
|
|
of performance-based funding distributed to all eligible |
|
|
institutions and the total amount of other formula funding |
|
|
authorized by this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
