A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a highway toll exemption for public school buses. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 372, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 372.060 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 372.060. PUBLIC SCHOOL BUSES. (a) In this section, |
|
|
"school bus" has the meaning assigned by Section 541.201. |
|
|
(b) A toll project entity may not require a school bus |
|
|
exempt from registration fees under Section 502.453 to pay a toll |
|
|
for use of a toll project when the bus is transporting students on a |
|
|
route to or from school or a school-related activity trip other than |
|
|
on routes to and from school. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
