SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 
  WHEREAS, Pflugerville boasts an expansive trail network that
  provides residents and visitors with ample opportunities for
  exercise, recreation, and social connection; and
         WHEREAS, Currently, Pflugerville maintains 56 miles of
  public trails within its city limits as well as an additional 15.2
  miles in its extraterritorial jurisdiction, totaling more than 71
  miles of accessible paths; an analysis by city staff has found that
  Pflugerville has more public trails per capita than any other city
  in the state, with 1.49 miles per 2,000 residents; moreover, an
  estimated 94.8 percent of its citizens live within a half mile of a
  trail, and 70 percent use the trails regularly; and
         WHEREAS, Pflugerville's trail network meets robust safety
  standards and features parking, lighting, and restrooms along major
  routes, ensuring a safe and convenient experience for trail users
  of all ages; in addition to facilitating access to green spaces, the
  trails serve as a hub for a wide variety of cultural activities,
  including community events, recreational programming, and public
  art installations; the pathways also help to reduce traffic
  congestion by connecting local neighborhoods, schools, and
  businesses; and
         WHEREAS, The trail network in Pflugerville has made the city
  a popular destination for Texans who enjoy active lifestyles, and
  the city is indeed deserving of special recognition for its
  steadfast commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of the
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby designate Pflugerville as the official Trail Capital of
  Texas; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section
  391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect
  until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally
  passed by the legislature.
