CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, September 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end
  of World War II, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to
  honor the brave and dedicated members of the U.S. military who
  served their country in the conflict; and
         WHEREAS, On September 2, 1945, the representatives of nine
  Allied nations and the surrendering Japanese armed forces signed
  the Instrument of Surrender to officially bring World War II to a
  close; prepared by the U.S. War Department and approved by
  President Harry S. Truman, the document was signed aboard the
  battleship USS Missouri, where U.S. Navy Fleet Admiral Chester W.
  Nimitz penned his name on behalf of the United States;
  Admiral Nimitz, a native of Fredericksburg, commanded more than two
  million troops and thousands of ships and planes at the height of
  the war in the Pacific Theater and was credited with leading the
  navy to victory against the Japanese; and
         WHEREAS, The Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Memorial Naval
  Museum was opened in Fredericksburg in 1967 in honor of
  Admiral Nimitz, who had passed away the previous year at the age of
  80; the National Museum of the Pacific War took shape from the
  Nimitz Memorial Naval Museum, and at the admiral's earlier request,
  it was dedicated to the men and women who served with him in the
  Pacific Theater; it is overseen by the Texas Historical Commission,
  and in 2006, the U.S. Congress approved the official designation of
  the museum, which is the only institution in the continental United
  States dedicated exclusively to telling the story of the Pacific
  and Asiatic Theaters in World War II; it is also home to the
  Admiral Nimitz Gallery, and throughout 2025, the facility will host
  a number of public events and programs commemorating the 80th
  anniversary of the war's end; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating remarkable valor and heroism,
  Admiral Chester Nimitz and his fellow service members upheld the
  highest ideals of our nation's armed forces during World War II, and
  Americans owe them a debt of gratitude that the passage of time can
  never diminish; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby commemorate the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World
  War II and recognize the National Museum of the Pacific War for its
  dedication to honoring those who served and supported the war
  effort in the Pacific; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the museum as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives and Senate.
