R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Chapter of the American Public |
|
|
Works Association are visiting the State Capitol on January 29, |
|
|
2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, APWA is a national organization that supports those |
|
|
who operate, improve, and maintain public works and infrastructure; |
|
|
the group's Texas chapter consists of more than 2,100 members and |
|
|
nine local branches, and its offerings include a variety of |
|
|
educational and informative events, services that promote |
|
|
professional development, and leadership opportunities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Public workers play a critical role in the state's |
|
|
transportation infrastructure, asset management, sustainability, |
|
|
and emergency response; they help to enhance the quality of life in |
|
|
over 1,200 municipalities across Texas by maintaining assets such |
|
|
as bridges, roads, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and public water |
|
|
systems; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By supporting those in the field of public works, |
|
|
the Texas Chapter of APWA has contributed to the vitality and |
|
|
prosperity of the Lone Star State, and it is a pleasure to join in |
|
|
honoring the group on this special occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby recognize January 29, 2025, as Texas American Public Works |
|
|
Association Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those |
|
|
affiliated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success in their important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the Texas Chapter of APWA as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas Senate. |
