SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 24
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Golden Soror Dr. Patricia Benjamin Webb, a 50-year |
|
|
member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, who is being |
|
|
honored at the Alpha Kappa Alpha Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex |
|
|
Chapters Founders' Day Celebration on February 8, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was founded in 1908 at |
|
|
Howard University, and it is the oldest Greek-letter |
|
|
organization established by African American college-educated |
|
|
women; through programs of service, the organization encourages |
|
|
young women to develop high standards of character and to strive |
|
|
for excellence in educational achievement, leadership, and |
|
|
personal development; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patricia Webb was inducted into Delta Kappa |
|
|
Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1975; she has held |
|
|
various leadership roles with the sorority, including her |
|
|
current position as regional representative of the sorority's |
|
|
standards, program, and reinstatement international committees; |
|
|
she has been recognized on numerous occasions for her many |
|
|
contributions to the sorority; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patricia is truly deserving of recognition for |
|
|
her leadership and membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and |
|
|
for the important role she has played in giving back to the |
|
|
community, and she has received numerous accolades for her work |
|
|
with professional and civic organizations; she serves as an |
|
|
example to her fellow sorority sisters and to women across the |
|
|
state; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Golden Soror Dr. Patricia Benjamin |
|
|
Webb on her dedicated service and her many achievements and |
|
|
extend to her congratulations on being honored by Alpha Kappa |
|
|
Alpha Sorority at the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex Chapters |
|
|
Founders' Day Celebration; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
