SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 43
         WHEREAS, Community Health Workers/Promotores Advocacy Day
  in Texas is taking place on April 4, 2025, providing a fitting
  opportunity to recognize Día de la Mujer Latina for its many
  achievements; and
         WHEREAS, A nonprofit apprenticeship program for Promotores
  and Community Health Workers, Día de la Mujer Latina was
  established in 1997 to eliminate health disparities and promote
  healthy behaviors within the Latino community; the organization
  serves 43 major cities across the United States as well as
  communities in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception, Día de la Mujer Latina has
  educated countless Promotores and Community Health Workers about
  issues such as chronic and infectious diseases, health literacy,
  intercultural competence, behavioral health, and patient
  navigation; the organization also provides access to a wide variety
  of services, including early-detection screenings and preventive
  care interventions, and it further advances its mission through its
  signature health fiestas; in addition, it operates the Telehealth
  Community Navigation Contact Center; and
         WHEREAS, Vital to the communities they serve, Promotores
  work tirelessly for preventive care and wellness among the most
  vulnerable and underserved residents in intended populations;
  these dedicated caregivers integrate education about general
  health and the public health care system into a diversity of
  cultures, languages, and value systems, and in so doing, they
  improve access to health care, social services, and insurance
  statewide; moreover, they conduct outreach programs in residences,
  community centers, clinics, and a variety of other venues; and
         WHEREAS, This year, Community Health Workers/Promotores
  Advocacy Day coincides with the 15th annual Expanding the Role of
  P/CHWs as Patient-Centered Navigators and Case Managers for
  Medicaid Conference; and
         WHEREAS, Promotores and Community Health Workers play a
  critical role in addressing the needs of a significant portion of
  the population, and they are indeed deserving of recognition for
  their invaluable contributions to the health and vitality of the
  Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby recognize April 4, 2025, as Community Health
  Workers/Promotores Advocacy Day and extend to all Promotores and
  Community Health Workers in Texas sincere best wishes for
  continued success with their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Día de la Mujer Latina as an expression of high
  regard from the Texas Senate.
