SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 50
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  John Forrest Sr.
 
         WHEREAS, The passing of John Lewis Forrest Sr. of
  Weatherford on November 10, 2024, at the age of 77, concluded a
  remarkable life of service to the law enforcement community and
  to the State of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Gorman on November 14, 1946, Johnny
  Forrest was the son of Robert and Margaret Forrest, and he grew up
  in Woodson with the companionship of a brother, Robert, and two
  sisters, Janet and Lisa; he graduated from Woodson High School,
  where he was valedictorian and a talented member of the baseball
  and football teams in addition to being voted most handsome; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of an exemplary career with the
  Texas Department of Public Safety that spanned 43 years,
  Mr. Forrest distinguished himself with his strong work ethic and
  professionalism; he played an important part in multiple
  operations that led to the seizure of more than $2 million of
  illicit money and thousands of pounds of illegal drugs; he also
  excelled as an instructor in the U.S. and Canada and was inducted
  into the inaugural class of the National Law Enforcement Hall of
  Fame; moreover, he had the honor of being one of the two officers
  from the Lone Star State to serve on the security detail for the
  second inauguration of President George W. Bush; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Forrest wed the love of his life, the former
  Cathy Sanders, on January 23, 1966, and they enjoyed a rewarding
  marriage that spanned nearly six decades; the couple became the
  parents of two children, John and Cindy, and their family eventually
  grew to include a granddaughter, Victoria, and grandson, Jax; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a dedicated public
  servant, Johnny Forrest is deeply missed, but the integrity with
  which he lived his life will forever inspire all those who had the
  good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of John Lewis
  Forrest Sr. and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of
  his family: to his wife, Cathy Forrest; to his son, John Forrest,
  and his wife, Erika; to his grandchildren, Victoria Palmer and
  Jax Forrest; to his brother, Robert Forrest; to his sisters,
  Janet Winton and Lisa Forrest; and to his many other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Johnny Forrest.
