R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Arlington police officer
  Darrin Curtis McMichael on September 21, 2023, at the age of 51, has
  brought a tremendous loss to his family, colleagues, and friends;
  and
         WHEREAS, Darrin McMichael was born in Arlington on
  December 20, 1971, to Garry and Peggy McMichael; he attended Sam
  Houston High School, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team; he
  went on to earn a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at
  Arlington with a double major in English and exercise and sport
  science; and
         WHEREAS, Known to many as "Boots," Officer McMichael worked
  at Bell Helicopter before joining the Arlington Police Department
  in 1999; he served as a patrol officer and detective in the North
  Patrol District, and for the last 13 years, he was a member of the
  department's motorcycle unit; in addition, he served as president
  of the Iron Circle Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer McMichael benefited
  from the love and support of his wife, Lynette; he took great pride
  in his two daughters, Natalie and Daphne, and his two bonus
  children, Kearsten and Treaver; over the years, he had the pleasure
  of welcoming into his family two grandchildren, Daxtyn and Brextyn;
  in his leisure hours, he enjoyed traveling, tending to animals on
  the Lone Oak Farm, and above all else spending time with his loved
  ones; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his warmth, generosity, and strength,
  Darrin McMichael embodied the highest ideals of the law enforcement
  profession, and although he is deeply missed, he will remain a
  source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Officer Darrin Curtis McMichael
  and extend sincere condolences to his family and many friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Darrin McMichael.
