SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Odel Crawford, who died January 15, |
|
|
2025, at the age of 72; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Odel was born April 23, 1952, in Brownwood, and he |
|
|
graduated from Brownwood High School in 1970; he went on to earn a |
|
|
bachelor's degree in business administration and management from |
|
|
Abilene Christian University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Mr. Crawford |
|
|
dedicated more than 25 years of service to the Texas Workforce |
|
|
Commission; he held esteemed management and supervisory |
|
|
positions that allowed him to make significant contributions to |
|
|
the economic development of Odessa and the Permian Basin region; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Crawford was actively involved in numerous |
|
|
community organizations, including the Black Chamber of Commerce |
|
|
of the Permian Basin, the West Texas Adult Literacy Council, |
|
|
Odessa Boys and Girls Club, and the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, |
|
|
and his remarkable service and dedication to the community were |
|
|
recognized with many prestigious awards; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Odel was noted for his deep commitment to his |
|
|
faith and for his love of singing, cooking, traveling, and |
|
|
mentoring future generations; he was a source of inspiration to |
|
|
those around him through his unwavering strength, his passion for |
|
|
helping others, and his remarkable ability to build and connect |
|
|
communities, and his memory will long be cherished by all who |
|
|
were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Odel Crawford; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Odel Crawford. |
