SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Sister Helen Harris on 25 years of exceptional service |
|
to Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and to the Brenham |
|
community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris led a rewarding career as an educator |
|
for four decades before retiring as a college mathematics |
|
professor in 2011, and she has embodied the admirable qualities |
|
of diligence, grace, and unselfishness as a role model to |
|
countless young people; and |
|
WHEREAS, Devoted in her spiritual faith, Helen was called |
|
to a life of service from a young age, and since becoming a member |
|
of Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, she has shared her time |
|
and talents with the church's congregation as a program committee |
|
chair, Bible study teacher, and Sunday school superintendent; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Sister Harris is deeply involved in numerous |
|
community organizations, church auxiliaries, and ministries, and |
|
she and her beloved husband of 52 years, Rev. Dr. John Harris, |
|
are owners of the Golden Years Home Health Agency in Brenham; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and compassion, |
|
Sister Helen Harris has made an impactful and positive difference |
|
in the lives of her family, her fellow church members, |
|
innumerable students, and the members of the Brenham community, |
|
and it is indeed fitting that she receive special recognition on |
|
the occasion of her 25th anniversary at Mount Rose Missionary |
|
Baptist Church; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
Legislature, hereby commend Sister Helen Harris on her dedicated |
|
service and her many contributions to her church and her |
|
community; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
