SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Elizabeth Ann Seligman McCarty, who died
  on November 7, 2024, at the age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, A fourth-generation New Mexican, Elizabeth
  "Betty" Seligman was born in Albuquerque on September 29, 1952;
  she graduated from Highland High School in 1970, and she went on
  to earn her nursing degree from the University of New Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, Betty began her nursing career at MD Anderson
  Cancer Hospital in Houston, where she met her adoring husband,
  Christopher McCarty; after moving to Brenham, she continued her
  vocation at several area clinics and medical centers; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen and beloved member of her
  community, Betty devoted more than two decades of service and
  developed many lasting friendships as the mobile district
  director for State Senator Lois Kolkhorst and as the Kolkhorst
  campaign accountant; and
         WHEREAS, She raised her children, Thomas Randolph McCarty
  and Molly McCarty Gonzales, by loving example, and her four
  grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, Everett, and Rory, enriched her
  life immeasurably; and
         WHEREAS, Above all, Betty McCarty treasured time spent
  with her family, and she enjoyed taking weekend trips to the
  casino and was noted for the attentive care she provided to
  injured wildlife; she inspired her many friends and loved ones
  through her generosity and her joyful spirit, and she leaves
  behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were
  privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Elizabeth Ann Seligman McCarty; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Betty McCarty.
