R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce are |
|
gathering at the State Capitol for the organization's Austin |
|
Legislative Fly-In on February 18 and 19, 2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, The two-day event provides an opportunity for |
|
chamber members to directly engage with the legislative process; |
|
working in behalf of their community, delegates will meet with |
|
state lawmakers to advocate for the chamber's priorities, including |
|
health care initiatives for underinsured and uninsured residents, |
|
support for sustainable infrastructure development and the Dallas |
|
Area Rapid Transit multimodal system, funding for public safety |
|
entities, and public education incentives to recruit and retain |
|
teachers and for career and technology education and workforce |
|
readiness programs; and |
|
WHEREAS, For more than 75 years, the Richardson Chamber of |
|
Commerce has played a vital role in strengthening the area's |
|
economy through business development; the organization holds a |
|
five-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and |
|
under the exemplary leadership of president and chief executive |
|
officer Julie Snyder and the executive committee and board of |
|
directors, it creates outreach opportunities for entrepreneurs |
|
while helping to ensure that employers have access to a qualified |
|
workforce by establishing collaborations between educational |
|
institutions and businesses; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Richardson Chamber of Commerce is a strong agent |
|
promoting economic vitality and prosperity, and all those |
|
associated with the organization may indeed take great pride in |
|
their contributions to the quality of life of the community at |
|
large; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby recognize the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Austin |
|
Legislative Fly-In on February 18 and 19, 2025, at the State Capitol |
|
and extend a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. |
