SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 111
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize February 19, 2025, as Texas A&M University--Corpus |
|
|
Christi Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi traces its |
|
|
origins to 1947, when the University of Corpus Christi was |
|
|
established; in 1989, the institution joined The Texas A&M |
|
|
University System and brought about an era of growth and academic |
|
|
excellence; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the university serves more than 11,400 |
|
|
students; it offers a diverse range of bachelor's, master's, and |
|
|
doctoral degrees through various colleges and programs, |
|
|
including business, education and human development, |
|
|
engineering, computer science, liberal arts, nursing, health |
|
|
sciences, and communications; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Committed to meeting the evolving needs of Texas' |
|
|
workforce and industries, the university continues to expand its |
|
|
academic offerings with many new degree programs as well as |
|
|
education-related certificate programs; it is also home to |
|
|
world-class centers and institutes for autonomous geospatial and |
|
|
marine research; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, As one of the state's premier institutions of |
|
|
higher education, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi plays a |
|
|
vital role in shaping the future of Texas, and it is truly fitting |
|
|
that a day be set aside to recognize its commitment to academic |
|
|
achievement, research innovation, and community development; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby recognize February 19, 2025, as Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi Day at the Capitol and extend a warm |
|
|
welcome to the visiting delegation; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special occasion. |
