SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
join Texans across the state in celebrating February 25, 2025, as |
|
|
Baylor Day at the State Capitol; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The state's oldest university in continual |
|
|
operation, Baylor University was established by an act of the |
|
|
Congress of the Republic of Texas on February 1, 1845; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This private Christian university and acclaimed |
|
|
Research I institution offers baccalaureate, master's, and |
|
|
doctoral degrees that attract thousands of students from Texas |
|
|
and around the world; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The university is home to treasured traditions |
|
|
and hundreds of student organizations, and many of its |
|
|
exceptional athletic programs have won national championships; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Baylor University's combination of |
|
|
interdisciplinary research and faculty commitment to teaching |
|
|
and scholarship has served to create an institution with an |
|
|
international reputation for educational excellence, and it is |
|
|
indeed fitting that the school's many contributions to higher |
|
|
education in Texas be recognized and celebrated; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Baylor University on its commitment |
|
|
to educating future leaders and extend to the university's |
|
|
students, faculty, and staff best wishes for a memorable and |
|
|
rewarding Baylor Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special occasion. |
