R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on
  December 5, 2024, with the passing of John Lee Ussery of Gladewater
  at the age of 63; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Billy Van Ussery and Marilyn LeGrace
  Williams Ussery, John Ussery was born on December 6, 1960, in
  Gladewater, where he grew up with the companionship of a sister,
  Carla; after graduating from Gladewater High School in 1979, he
  earned his associate's degree from Kilgore College and his
  bachelor's degree from Baylor University; a talented musician from
  an early age, he played trumpet and piano throughout his time in
  school, and he wrote many compositions; and
         WHEREAS, On June 15, 2002, Mr. Ussery exchanged vows with the
  love of his life, the former Carol Lee Banks, and the couple went on
  to share a rewarding marriage that spanned more than two decades;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Ussery enjoyed a fulfilling career working as a
  certified public accountant and as a real estate broker; active in
  his community, he served as treasurer of the Republican Party of
  Upshur County, as chair of Precinct 16, and as a member of the
  Gladewater City Council; a man of faith, he was a congregant of
  First Baptist Church Tyler, where he taught Sunday school for
  nearly 40 years; above all else, he cherished time spent with his
  loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, While the passing of John Ussery brings great
  sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that
  will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of John Lee Ussery and extend
  deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Carol
  Ussery; to his mother, Marilyn Ussery; to his sister, Carla Haley,
  and her husband, Tommy; to his niece and nephew, Payton Lee Haley
  and Parker William Haley; to his stepsons, Alan Wood and his wife,
  Anne, and their children, Caleb, Daniel, Caroline, and Julieanne,
  and Michael Wood and his wife, Danielle, and their children, Otis
  and Pearl; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of John Ussery.
