R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Walter Palmer retired from his law practice on |
|
January 3, 2025, drawing to a close an outstanding career as an |
|
attorney that spanned 52 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, An accomplished athlete in his youth, "Pinkie" |
|
Palmer was a standout running back for the Baylor University |
|
football team from 1966 to 1968; he remains one of the top rushers |
|
in school history, and in 2013, he was inducted into the Baylor |
|
Athletics Hall of Fame; he majored in finance economics and |
|
management as an undergraduate, and he graduated from Baylor Law |
|
School in 1972; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Palmer began practicing law in Marshall with his |
|
father-in-law, Sam Blakely Hall Jr., who later served as a U.S. |
|
congressman and federal judge; he went on to found Palmer Law Firm, |
|
Inc., and, in time, the practice came to include his son, Chase |
|
Palmer; he also served as the city attorney for Marshall for 18 |
|
years, and he was active in local, state, and national bar |
|
associations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Palmer shares a rewarding marriage with his |
|
wife, Becky Hall-Palmer, and they take great pride in their two |
|
children and multiple grandchildren; in retirement, he is looking |
|
forward to spending more time enjoying his hobbies of ranching and |
|
playing golf; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of a distinguished legal career, |
|
Pinkie Palmer served as a dedicated and trusted advocate for his |
|
clients, and he may reflect with pride on his many notable |
|
achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby congratulate Walter "Pinkie" Palmer on his retirement from |
|
Palmer Law Firm, Inc., and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Palmer as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
Senate. |
