R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
|
of Kenneth Wayne Garner of Plano, who passed away on May 7, 2024, at |
|
|
the age of 81; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Kenneth Wayne Garner and Dean Wade, Ken |
|
|
Garner was born on December 5, 1942, in Brownsville; he grew up in |
|
|
and around Abilene and later moved to the Dallas area; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In the course of a successful career, Mr. Garner |
|
|
worked as an engineer at LTV/E-Systems, and he started his own |
|
|
business, Kentronix Communications, in 1973; he eventually retired |
|
|
from E-Systems in 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A Shriner and 32nd degree Mason, Mr. Garner also |
|
|
volunteered with the Pontiac Club and at the Highland Springs |
|
|
senior living community; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed a variety |
|
|
of hobbies, including hot rod racing, trap and skeet shooting, and |
|
|
operating ham radios; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Garner drew strength from |
|
|
the rewarding marriage he shared with his wife, Myra Amerland |
|
|
Garner, and he took great pride in his children, Michelle, Christy, |
|
|
and Don, as well as his seven grandchildren and nine |
|
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Ken Garner is deeply missed, those who were |
|
|
privileged to share in his love and friendship will always remember |
|
|
him with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of Kenneth Wayne Garner and extend |
|
|
heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
|
day, it do so in memory of Ken Garner. |
