R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Garrett Lane Mills of Scouting America Troop No. 194 |
|
in Pleasanton has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |
|
accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor |
|
bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting |
|
movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, |
|
Mr. Mills earned the requisite 21 merit badges; he also |
|
successfully completed an Eagle Scout project that involved |
|
refurbishing the playground at Jourdanton Methodist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Jody Longley, Mr. Mills has demonstrated |
|
outstanding leadership ability throughout his scouting career, |
|
winning the respect and admiration of his fellow troop members as he |
|
worked toward the highest rank that the organization offers; a |
|
member of the Order of the Arrow, he has also served his troop as |
|
historian, patrol leader, and assistant senior patrol leader; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Mills is currently a senior at Jourdanton High |
|
School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society and a |
|
second lieutenant in the JROTC program; following his graduation, |
|
he plans to apply to the U.S. Air Force Academy; and |
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan's dedication to |
|
excellence and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have |
|
proven him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed |
|
reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby congratulate Garrett Lane Mills on achieving the rank of |
|
Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Mills as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
Senate. |
