R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Aarieanna Ware, Miss Texas USA 2024, is visiting |
|
Austin to celebrate Miss Texas Day at the State Capitol on March 28, |
|
2025; and |
|
WHEREAS, The third African American woman in 73 years to be |
|
named Miss Texas USA, Ms. Ware claimed the honor at a competition |
|
held on June 22, 2024, after impressing judges in a number of |
|
categories; she went on to represent Texas at Miss USA 2024, placing |
|
in the top 10; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ware completed a four-year sustainable |
|
homebuilding apprenticeship at the age of 19, and she has since |
|
become a leader in environmentally friendly building practices and |
|
development as the owner of Kenmare Homes in Dallas; she has worked |
|
on several million dollar builds, and she intends to expand her |
|
business to Austin and Houston in the future; in addition, she |
|
earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Midwestern |
|
State University, where she is currently pursuing a master's degree |
|
in the same area of study; and |
|
WHEREAS, Inspired by her experience as a woman of color in |
|
male-dominated fields, Ms. Ware founded the Build it Up program to |
|
mentor young women in science, technology, engineering, arts, and |
|
mathematics; her philanthropic efforts further extend to her work |
|
with the Boys and Girls Club of Texas, through which she reads to |
|
children and encourages an early love of literature; she eventually |
|
plans to release her own book aimed at teaching young readers about |
|
the beauty of Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Aarieanna Ware has demonstrated admirable |
|
commitment to pursuing her goals, and she has brought great pride to |
|
the Dallas community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby congratulate Aarieanna Ware on being crowned Miss Texas USA |
|
2024 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Ware as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
Senate. |
