SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 197

WHEREAS, The Baptist General Convention of Texas is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its Christian Life Commission in 2025; and

WHEREAS, The idea for the Christian Life Commission was first conceived by a group of messengers in 1949, when they voted that the Baptist General Convention of Texas should initiate a plan to offer spiritual guidance on current events and modern-day issues; the commission was officially established in 1950; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, the Christian Life Commission has developed a number of commendable programs, including ministries that advocate for justice and public policies, promote ethical Christian living, and partner with other organizations to provide help to those in need; and

WHEREAS, The Christian Life Commission has played an instrumental role in advancing the mission of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and it is indeed fitting to recognize the organization's significant contributions on this special milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Christian Life Commission and extend to all those affiliated with the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for the commission as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
