R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is hosting |
|
its 40th annual Dallas Blooms festival from February 22 through |
|
April 13, 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the |
|
arboretum for its many achievements; and |
|
WHEREAS, Located on the shores of White Rock Lake, the Dallas |
|
Arboretum opened to the public in 1984; it spans 66 acres and |
|
encompasses a life science laboratory as well as two historical |
|
buildings, the DeGolyer House and the Alex Camp House; the |
|
arboretum welcomed more than 1 million visitors in 2023, and its |
|
many offerings include popular annual events, educational |
|
programs, and family-oriented activities; in addition, |
|
groundbreaking horticultural research is conducted at the |
|
arboretum's Trial Gardens; and |
|
WHEREAS, The theme for this year's Dallas Blooms festival is |
|
"Outside the Ordinary," and guests will be able to enjoy impressive |
|
exhibits with more than 500,000 spring blooming bulbs, including |
|
350,000 tulips, hyacinths, azaleas, and daffodils; the event will |
|
also feature work by Seward Johnson, who is known for his life-size |
|
bronze sculptures, as well as chef demonstrations, creative arts |
|
and fitness classes, and live piano performances; and |
|
WHEREAS, For four decades, Dallas Blooms has been a joyous |
|
celebration of nature and art, and its continuing success is a |
|
testament to the dedication and creativity of the Dallas Arboretum; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby commemorate the 40th annual Dallas Blooms festival and |
|
extend to its organizers sincere best wishes for a successful |
|
event; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas Senate. |
