SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 206
WHEREAS, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas is |
celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025; and |

trace back to 1955, when the Southwest Conference of The United |
Methodist Church approved the formation of a nonprofit to own and |
operate hospitals in the name of the church; opening in 1963, the |
Southwest Methodist Hospital sought to promote and deliver |
accessible, quality health care to the underserved, and |
Methodist Healthcare Ministries has continued to advance this |
mission since its establishment in 1995; today, the Methodist |
Healthcare System serves as the largest health care provider in |
San Antonio and 26 surrounding counties and oversees operations |
at numerous specialized area hospitals; and |

organization also oversees grant-making and policy initiatives, |
and it has worked with more than 150 funding partners to ensure |
affordable services to all; together, they have invested over |

to care and to improve food security, digital inclusion, and |

communities in food deserts; in addition, the nonprofit |

WHEREAS, In recognition of its exemplary business |

Quality Texas Foundation Regional Program, and it was one of only |
two organizations that earned this accolade that year; with this |
honor, it was commended for its leadership, strategic planning, |
measurement, analysis and knowledge management, results, and |
focus on its customers, workforce and operations; and |
WHEREAS, Methodist Healthcare Ministries has provided |
expert and compassionate care to countless men, women, and |
