SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the residents of Sullivan City who are gathering in
  Austin on March 6, 2025, to celebrate Sullivan City Day at the
  State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1908, Sullivan City is located along
  the Rio Grande in southwestern of Hidalgo County; the city was
  named in honor of Captain Ed Sullivan, who owned a ranch in the
  area that later became a loading station on the Missouri Pacific
  Railroad; at the end of the 20th century, the town's population
  was around 2,300; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Sullivan City is home to nearly 4,000
  residents, and its economy benefits from educational, health
  care, and retail services; neighboring communities include
  Harlingen, McAllen, and Reynosa, Mexico, and residents and
  visitors alike enjoy such nearby attractions as the National
  Butterfly Center, the McAllen Heritage Center, and the Fordyce
  Nature Trails; and
         WHEREAS, The community is ably led by its city council,
  which includes mayor Alma Dalia Salinas, mayor pro tem Ramon
  Moreno, and members Rene Peña, Nicholas Cerda, and Ruben
  Villalon, as well as city manager Richard Ozuna; and
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Sullivan City are working to
  preserve the best of their past while building a future of
  expanding opportunity, and it is indeed fitting to honor them for
  their unique contributions to the Lone Star State; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby recognize March 6, 2025, as Sullivan City Day
  at the Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting
  delegation; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the city as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
