SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 215
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the American Society of Landscape Architects on the |
|
|
grand occasion of the organization's 125th anniversary; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Professional landscape architects utilize their |
|
|
expertise to analyze, plan, and manage healthy, equitable, and |
|
|
resilient spaces in our communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Landscape architects design community |
|
|
masterplans, walkable neighborhoods, multimodal transportation |
|
|
networks, green stormwater systems, and accessible parks, |
|
|
trails, and gathering places that promote active, healthy |
|
|
lifestyles; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Leaders in research and innovation, landscape |
|
|
architects leverage their knowledge of science, technology, |
|
|
engineering, and mathematics to address some of society's most |
|
|
pressing challenges; using sustainable design practices creates |
|
|
resilient infrastructure that withstands severe weather events |
|
|
and helps to reduce the effect of humanity's impact on nature; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Future generations of landscape architects in the |
|
|
Lone Star State gain the skills necessary to excel as leaders in |
|
|
their field through accredited architecture programs offered at |
|
|
The University of Texas at Arlington, The University of Texas at |
|
|
Austin, Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 125th anniversary of the American Society of |
|
|
Landscape Architects is a fitting opportunity for Texans to |
|
|
reflect on the vital and transformative role licensed |
|
|
professional landscape architects have had in shaping the |
|
|
economic, social, and cultural amenities of our state's many |
|
|
thriving communities and vibrant spaces; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the members of the |
|
|
American Society of Landscape Architects on the organization's |
|
|
125th anniversary and join them in recognizing the month of April |
|
|
of 2025 as Landscape Architecture Month; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the society as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
