SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 228
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Patsy Ruth Spackey
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Patsy Ruth Spackey, who died November 9,
  2024, at the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Patsy Ruth Ellen was born on
  April 13, 1942; she attended Douglas MacArthur High School in San
  Antonio, and she met her future husband, Ted Spackey, during her
  senior year while attending a Trinity University football game;
  and
         WHEREAS, Pat and Ted married in 1961, and their loving
  union brought 63 years of joy and fulfillment; they were blessed
  with three children, and their grandchildren and
  great-grandchildren enriched her life immeasurably; and
         WHEREAS, Pat developed her skill as a photographer
  documenting the history of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas,
  where she was an active congregant and served as a receptionist
  for many years; she managed a successful photography business,
  and after she and Ted relocated to The Woodlands in 2006, she
  adopted the role of photographer for her new spiritual family at
  the Church of Alden Bridge; and
         WHEREAS, Proud of her Texas heritage, Pat found great joy
  in being a descendant of Charles B. Stewart, the designer of the
  Texas state flag; she was a highly respected member and leader of
  several chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution as
  well as the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and she was a
  founding member of the Descendants of the Signers of the Texas
  Declaration of Independence at Washington on the Brazos; and
         WHEREAS, Pat Spackey was a beloved matriarch and an
  esteemed member of her community, and she leaves behind memories
  that will long be cherished by her many friends and loved ones and
  by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Patsy Ruth Spackey; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Pat Spackey.
