SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 235
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Woman's Forum of Wichita Falls is marking its |
|
|
100th anniversary in 2025, providing a welcome opportunity to pay |
|
|
tribute to its rich legacy of service and community engagement; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This venerable organization was established in |
|
|
1925 by 30 charter members who wanted to be of greater service to |
|
|
the community and who sought to create a space where women could |
|
|
exchange ideas and cultivate meaningful change; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, the group has sponsored various |
|
|
departments and clubs, and the current lineup includes the Senior |
|
|
Junior Forum, which is focused on local service initiatives, as well |
|
|
as the Book Club, Garden Club, Culture Club, Gourmet Club, Bridge |
|
|
Club, and two clubs for high school students; moreover, the |
|
|
organization has hosted such distinguished guests as Amelia |
|
|
Earhart, Will Rogers, and President Lyndon B. Johnson; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, the forum includes more than 300 women |
|
|
encompassing a broad range of ages, and it has expanded its |
|
|
mission in recent years to place a stronger emphasis on academic |
|
|
pursuits and the study of fine arts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, True to its mission, the Woman's Forum of Wichita |
|
|
Falls has made a lasting and positive difference in the lives of |
|
|
countless individuals over the past century, and its members may |
|
|
indeed take great pride in their organization's accomplishments on |
|
|
this special milestone; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the |
|
|
Woman's Forum of Wichita Falls and extend to all those affiliated |
|
|
with the organization sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
