R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Woman's Forum of Wichita Falls is marking its |
|
100th anniversary in 2025, providing a welcome opportunity to pay |
|
tribute to its rich legacy of service and community engagement; and |
|
WHEREAS, This venerable organization was established in 1925 |
|
by 30 charter members who wanted to be of greater service to the |
|
community and who sought to create a space where women could |
|
exchange ideas and cultivate meaningful change; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, the group has sponsored various |
|
departments and clubs, and the current lineup includes the Senior |
|
Junior Forum, which is focused on local service initiatives, as |
|
well as the Book Club, Garden Club, Culture Club, Gourmet Club, |
|
Bridge Club, and two clubs for high school students; moreover, the |
|
organization has hosted such distinguished guests as Amelia |
|
Earhart, Will Rogers, and President Lyndon B. Johnson; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, the forum includes more than 300 women |
|
encompassing a broad range of ages, and it has expanded its mission |
|
in recent years to place a stronger emphasis on academic pursuits |
|
and the study of fine arts; and |
|
WHEREAS, True to its mission, the Woman's Forum of Wichita |
|
Falls has made a lasting and positive difference in the lives of |
|
countless individuals over the past century, and its members may |
|
indeed take great pride in their organization's accomplishments on |
|
this special milestone; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Woman's Forum of |
|
Wichita Falls and extend to all those affiliated with the |
|
organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
Senate. |
