R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Surveyors play an essential role in ensuring the |
|
|
success and efficiency of infrastructure and property development |
|
|
across the Lone Star State, and these dedicated professionals are |
|
|
being honored with the observance of National Surveyors Week from |
|
|
March 16 to 22, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, National Surveyors Week was established by the |
|
|
National Society of Professional Surveyors to bring public |
|
|
recognition to the sector and its role in shaping modern society; |
|
|
during the annual event, thousands of professional surveyors across |
|
|
the country and state take part in local activities designed to |
|
|
introduce a new generation to the industry and showcase the use of |
|
|
technology in their work; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since the earliest days of its founding, our nation |
|
|
has relied upon land surveyors to create accurate maps and define |
|
|
property boundaries, paving the way for the establishment of roads, |
|
|
buildings, and other vital elements of civilization; surveyors have |
|
|
included prominent figures in our society, including Presidents |
|
|
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, and the efforts of the |
|
|
first American surveyors helped shape our country's westward |
|
|
expansion by enabling prospective settlers to achieve the dream of |
|
|
land ownership; today, surveyors continue to apply their expertise |
|
|
in such scientific specialties as geodesy, physics, and engineering |
|
|
to projects that are crucial to the growth and development of our |
|
|
cities and communities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The men and women of the surveying profession are |
|
|
making invaluable contributions through their dedication to the |
|
|
highest standards of skill, competence, and integrity, and the |
|
|
occasion of National Surveyors Week provides a welcome occasion to |
|
|
celebrate their achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby recognize March 16-22, 2025, as National Surveyors Week and |
|
|
extend to all those associated with the industry sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success. |
